The Stowage Space package provides a variety of organisational aids. It comprises a spectacles compartment in the overhead control unit, stowage compartments under the front seats, in the passenger footwell, as well as to the left and right in the luggage compartment, and luggage nets on the driver and passenger seat backrests. The package is rounded off with a practical 12-volt socket in the luggage compartment.

The anti-theft alarm system (ATA) with tow-away protection and interior monitoring warns in the event of theft and unauthorised entry, as soon as the system is activated via remote control when locking the vehicle.

The Smoker package provides two conveniently positioned ashtrays and a cigarette lighter in the vehicle. The cigarette lighter in the front also serves as a 12 volt socket. The package takes the place of the front and rear stowage compartment.

The Seat Comfort package improves seat comfort on journeys of all lengths, above all on longer ones, by providing the seats with more options for ergonomic individualisation and for adjustment to the desired seat position. The package includes height adjustment for the front-passenger seat as well; seat cushion inclination adjustment for both front seats and a specific seating design.

The Mirror package includes electrically folding exterior mirrors. The interior mirror and driver’s side exterior mirror also dim automatically. The exterior mirrors are electrically folded in and out again using a button within easy reach of the driver.

An automatic function can be programmed via the multifunction steering wheel so that the exterior mirrors are folded in automatically when the vehicle is locked. The mirrors fold out again when the vehicle is unlocked and the driver’s door is opened. Both the interior mirror and driver’s-side exterior mirror feature sensors which measure the light intensity on the mirror compared to the ambient light. If a significant difference is detected between the two values, the mirrors are automatically dimmed.

The Lane Tracking package assists the driver in arriving safely and stress-free at his destination. It comprises the assistance systems of Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Spot Assist systems. The combination of these systems significantly enhances safety and ride comfort.

Lane Keeping Assist can warn the driver if the vehicle begins to leave its lane unintentionally. A series of three vibrations of the steering wheel, imperceptible to the other vehicle occupants, serves as the warning signal. The system can recognise manoeuvres during which the driver leaves the lane intentionally - when cutting a corner, for example - and will not issue a warning unnecessarily.

The Blind Spot Assist can detect other vehicles in the poorly visible area directly next to and behind the vehicle using two radar sensors. If a vehicle is detected in the blind spot, a red triangle appears in the exterior mirror. Should the driver nevertheless activate the indicator, despite this visual warning, an audible warning is also triggered. The system is active at speeds between 30 and 250 km/h. Under 30 km/h a yellow triangle indicates that the system is inactive.

The sports suspension features firmer suspension and damping. The sports suspension also increases the vehicle’s dynamic appearance and is factory-fitted to match perfectly with the model series..

Cruise control including SPEEDTRONIC allows for relaxed and fatigue-free driving particularly on long journeys. The constant speed which is maintained as a result enhances ride comfort and makes it easier to adopt a fuel-efficient driving style. Furthermore, the SPEEDTRONIC function makes it easier to observe speed limits by setting a maximum speed.

Using the control lever, the individual speed limit is set between 30 km/h and the vehicle's top vehicle speed in increments of 10 and 1 km/h, and displayed in the instrument cluster. Speed Limit Assist is deactivated by moving the switch back to the cruise control position or by rotating it to the "off" position.

SPEEDTRONIC variable cruise control is an additional function to the familiar cruise control functions and can be activated with a cruise control lever. A yellow LED on the switch and a display in the instrument cluster indicate that the cruise-control mode is off and the speed limiting mode is on.

Active Parking Assist makes a major contribution to safe and comfortable driving. It helps the driver to find a suitable parking space - either parallel on a road or at 90 degrees into a car park space - and helps him to park by actively steering the vehicle. The integrated PARKTRONIC can warn drivers if there are hidden obstacles in front of the car or behind. Active Parking Assist uses two ultrasound sensors in the front bumper to identify suitable parking spaces when the vehicle is travelling at a speed of up to 35 km/h.

The automatic parking space search function is indicated by a "P" symbol in the instrument cluster. If Active Parking Assist has found a parking space, an arrow appears next to the "P". By default, Active Parking Assist searches for parking spaces on the right-hand side of the road. If the indicator on the driver's side is active, parking spaces on the left-hand side are also detected

The driver starts the parking manoeuvring process by stopping ahead of the indicated parking space, selecting reverse and confirming the prompt which appears in the instrument cluster. Active Parking Assist then takes over the steering at up to 10 km/h. The driver only has to operate the clutch (in vehicles with manual transmission) and the accelerator and brake. The parking manoeuvre is completed in a maximum of 5 moves. The final parking move is indicated by the message "Parking Assist complete" in the display. This message is accompanied by an acoustic signal.< PARKTRONIC gives visible and audible signals to warn of obstacles it detects in front of the vehicle and behind it. It is active up to a speed of about 16 km/h.

The automatic child seat recognition system detects child seats with a transponder from the Mercedes-Benz accessories range and automatically deactivates the front passenger airbag.

An aerial integrated in the front-passenger seat sends signals. If special child seat models from the Mercedes-Benz accessories range are fitted, transponders integrated in the child seat detect these signals and send a feedback signal. Based on this feedback signal, the automatic child seat recognition system deactivates the front-passenger airbag. An indicator lamp lights up to confirm that the airbag has been deactivated. The belt tensioner and the other airbags on the front-passenger side – such as the sidebag (combined thorax/pelvisbag) and windowbag - remain active in order to protect the child. The front-passenger airbag is reactivated automatically after the child seat has been removed.

The bi-xenon headlamps are a further development of the well-known xenon headlamps, offering xenon technology for both low and high-beam. LED technology is used both for the daytime running lamps integrated in the headlamps and for the bicolour tail lamps.

DISTRONIC PLUS helps the driver automatically maintain a specified distance from the vehicle ahead and helps minimise the risk of rear-end collisions by identifying potentially dangerous situations and reacting accordingly. If danger is detected, the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST system can give the driver visual and acoustic warning signals. If the danger of collision persists, the system can then initiate autonomous partial braking.

In stop-and-go traffic, DISTRONIC PLUS applies the brakes automatically – if necessary, until the vehicle comes to a complete stop. Automatic braking is applied with a deceleration of up to 5 m/s2 As soon as the traffic situation improves, DISTRONIC PLUS automatically accelerates back up to the preset speed if the driver presses briefly on the accelerator or flicks the cruise control lever. As the sensors can operate between 0.2 and 200 metres the system is also helpful in city traffic or stop-and-go traffic.

If DISTRONIC PLUS identifies that heavy braking is required, an intermittent warning tone is sounded and a warning symbol lights up on the instrument panel. This alerts the driver to pay close attention and apply the brakes if necessary. To move off again after coming to a complete stop, the driver only needs to pull the cruise control lever or tap the accelerator.

The radar-based collision warning system COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST, which is fitted as standard, can enhance safety and driving comfort by warning the driver of too small a distance between his vehicle and the vehicle in front, and can support the driver's braking when it detects danger. The system can recognise insufficient gaps between the own vehicle and objects travelling in front at speeds of more than 7 km/h. When the system detects the danger of a rear-end collision it can issue a visual and acoustic warning to the driver. If the system detects a danger and the driver applies the brakes at the same time, Adaptive Brake Assist can intervene for good measure: It then provides precisely the right amount of brake pressure that is needed ideally to avoid an impending collision. COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST is an innovative component of the integral safety concept of Mercedes-Benz.

The Intelligent Light System – as an active component of the safety concept – ensures the best possible visibility in all weather conditions and the most diverse traffic situations. With oncoming traffic, illuminated road users, on bends, in fog or on free stretches of road, the system adapts to the situation and adjusts the characteristics of the light individually to that situation.

The optional front fog lamps provide better illumination of the road surface in bad weather. They are located in the front apron and, together with the standard-fit rear fog lamps, provide a complete safety concept when visibility is very poor.

When the PRE-SAFE® system detects the typical risks of an accident, it can activate preventive safety systems depending on the driving situation and vehicle equipment. These can help to reduce the risk of injury to the vehicle occupants.

The PRE-SAFE® system is able to recognise an impending accident because it represents a synergy of active and passive safety features unique to this vehicle class: it systematically accesses the sensors of existing systems such as ESP® or BAS their sensors are able to detect typical critical driving situations and provide the appropriate information to the PRE-SAFE® system, thereby enhancing the standard safety systems.

Examples include the securing of the driver and front passenger in their seats at an early stage by electric belt tensioners to prevent undesirable body movements; or the almost complete closure of the side windows and sliding sunroof to protect occupants from any objects entering the vehicle.

The reversing camera is switched on automatically when reverse gear is engaged. It helps the driver to reverse into parking spaces, both parallel spaces or at 90 degrees. Static and dynamic guide lines show the driver the steering angle and distance. The reversing camera is built into the tailgate handle and monitors the area directly behind the vehicle.

Through a new look with digital image transfer and additional electronic zoom functions, an optimum image is ensured in all driving situations. When manoeuvring, the driver can select the "back-in" mode, in which dynamic guide lines indicate the relevant path of the vehicle.

If the vehicle is fitted with a trailer coupling, a further mode is made available. The driver is initially assisted, in "Back-in" mode, in backing up towards the drawbar properly aligned through the marking of the middle of the axle. Once he is close to the trailer, "Zoom mode" enables him to align the vehicle with absolute precision. The driver is helped by a dynamic guide line which shows the path of the trailer coupling at the every steering angle.

The sidebags in the rear are stored behind the wheel arch lining. When they are deployed during a side collision they provide potential protection for the chest area of the rear-seat passengers.

They are triggered when the central control unit and the side satellite sensors register acceleration or deceleration forces acting on the vehicle in excess of a certain threshold. The sidebags deploy at chest height between the vehicle side and the occupant.

The Lane Keeping Assist makes a significant contribution to road traffic safety. It can warn the driver by means of a discreet vibration of the steering-wheel if the vehicle unintentionally leaves its lane, drifting across lane markings that have been registered by the system. If the turn indicator is actuated beforehand or the steering wheel is clearly turned, the system assumes that the lane change is intentional and does not emit a warning.

Blind Spot Assist helps the driver to avoid potentially critical situations by monitoring the areas to the left and right of the vehicle when changing lanes. If the system detects another vehicle within the monitoring range, a hazard warning triangle lights up in the corresponding exterior mirror. An additional audible warning sounds if the driver now sets the turn indicator to indicate he intends to change lane.

With the Becker® MAP PILOT it is possible to upgrade the Audio 20 CD radio, fitted as standard, to a full-function navigation system. The control unit can be secured and connected in the glove compartment in just a couple of simple steps, and can be removed at any time.

The COMAND Online multimedia system is the highlight of the new telematics generation. This innovative system features an Internet browser, combines all audio, telephone and navigation functions and also includes the Speed Limit Assist function. Speed Limit Assist uses an integrated camera to identify the speed limits on road signs and show the permitted maximum speed on the central display. The system also compares identified speed limits against the data stored in the navigation system.

In order to establish an internet connection, an internet-capable mobile phone with Bluetooth® interface is required.

The digital radio (DAB) receives terrestrial digital radio stations via a roof aerial. This gives the user better reception quality, a larger choice of stations and more precise information. Switching between analogue and digital reception is automatic, according to signal strength. The DAB tuner supports not only DAB signals but also the DAB+ and DMB audio signals.

The Drive Kit Plus for the iPhone® connects your iPhone® 4 or 4S to your CLA Coupé, providing a new user interface with a revolutionary graphic design and clear, red illuminated symbols.

Available free of charge from the iTunes® store, the Digital DriveStyle app allows you to access key content on your iPhone® safely when driving. Easily visible on your COMAND Online or Audio 20 CD display, the app is straightforward to operate using the controller on the centre armrest. With a flat menu structure and magnified view to suit the vehicle, content is divided into "Social", "Media" and "Places" categories for quick access to functions. There is an interface in the glove compartment for connecting and charging your iPhone®.

The Harman Kardon® Logic 7® surround sound system with Dolby Digital 5.1 and an output of 450 watts turns every journey into an acoustic experience.

12 high-performance speakers, the Harman Kardon® multi-channel DSP amplifier and the Logic 7® multi-channel surround sound technology provide an impressive three-dimensional sound impression. The automatic volume control adapts the sound in line with the car’s current speed.

All you need for convenience telephony is the Mercedes-Benz head unit with screen, a compatible mobile phone and the right cradle to connect your phone to the exterior aerial via a fixed interface in the centre console.

The system offers extensive opportunities to use virtually the full range of telephone functions by networking it with the telephone control unit, the audio device installed, the loudspeakers and the aerial. It is operated and displayed via the hands-free system, the multifunction steering wheel, the multifunction display and (in conjunction with the optional COMAND Online system) the LINGUATRONIC voice-operated control system. In addition, the telephone is charged while in the cradle.

The optimised Media Interface, including the consumer cable kit, provides a solution for connecting portable media players in the centre console which cannot be connected via the standard USB mass storage device. This includes the iPod® und iPhone® as well as media players with Media Transfer Protocol (MTP), for example, from Creative, Philips, Sandisk, Samsung or Sony. The system makes it easy to read additional information such as track title, album, artist etc. (where available) on the vehicle's main display.

The digital ViaMichelin travel guide, which includes the ViaMichelin restaurant guide, is an optional extra for the COMAND Online multimedia system. It covers 36 European countries and is available in five languages. The guide provides extensive information on restaurants, hotels, attractions and tourist routes.

The search function makes it easy and quick to locate points of interest nearby or at the destination. Grading symbols help the user to select restaurants, hotels, points of interest and tourist routes. The software also provides other multimedia information (audio files, images and texts) on the ViaMichelin POIs. The travel guide contents can be updated free of charge via the Mercedes-Benz portal.

Excellent reception quality, a permanent supply of power and easy operation of the mobile phone through the multifunction steering wheel – the benefits are obvious. The Bluetooth® telephone module with SAP profile is a quick, easy and convenient way to connect any Mercedes-Benz approved mobile phone that can access the Bluetooth® standard SAP (SIM Access Profile) with the vehicle.Direct operation is also possible, by inserting the SIM card into the built-in SIM card reader.

The functions at a glance:

The ball neck in the trailer coupling can be folded by means of a folding mechanism behind the rear bumper, thereby saving space. The folding mechanism is unlatched by a lever in the luggage compartment. In conjunction with COMAND Online and the reversing camera, a special camera resolution and an additional guide line are available which enable the driver to hitch up the trailer without the need for help from a third party.

The panoramic sliding sunroof creates a transparent surface area twice the size of conventional sliding glass sunroofs and creates an interior with a particularly bright and friendly ambience.

It consists of a fixed panoramic glass roof and an electrically operated glass sunroof which, thanks to its large glass surface, lets in plenty of light. When the sunroof is opened using the switch, the wind deflector is raised. Then the sunroof is raised upwards and slides back over the fixed glass roof section at the rear. There is also an electrically operated sunblind.

In the event of pressure loss, the reinforced tyre side wall takes over the tyre’s supporting function, thus increasing the distance that can be driven when the tyre is flat. Generally referred to as run-flat tyres, these tyres are also called self-supporting tyres. The side wall contains special rubber pads.

In the event of pressure loss, the stiff side wall of the tyre takes over the tyre’s supporting function. The maximum speed when the tyres are deflated is 80 km/h, while the maximum distance that can be driven is limited to 80 km with driver only and 30 km when fully loaded. These distances are increased if the tyre is only partially deflated. The tyres have side markings for identification purposes.

The washer nozzles and hoses of the windscreen washer system are heated, which means that they are better protected against icing up. This allows the windscreen to be cleaned more effectively at low temperatures.

The rear side windows behind the B-pillar and the rear window are of dark-tinted single-layer safety glass. The tinted glass shields the rear passenger compartment and luggage compartment from prying eyes, reduces the degree to which the rear occupants are exposed to direct sunlight and gives the car an even more elegant air.

The 4-way lumbar support increases both seating comfort and ergonomics. The backrest curvature of the seats can be individually adjusted to suit the different requirements of the driver and passenger, thereby bringing about an ergonomic seating posture.

Two air cushions are integrated into both front seats; they can be inflated or deflated as desired through two control valves to give individually adjusted support for the spine. The air cushions can also be adjusted for height. The adjustable lumbar support is operated via a 4-way switch on the outer surface of the cushion.

The rear armrest is easy to fold up; and it containers a cup holder. In addition, when the armrest is folded up, a through-loading feature through to the luggage compartment for the transport of bulky items allows more scope for organising space.

The electric settings for the front-passenger seat with memory function increase comfort and convenience when there are frequent changes of front passenger. The seat, backrest and head restraint (not available with sports seats) positions are all electrically adjustable; and three settings can be saved. Thanks to the intuitive operation and ergonomic switch, the best possible seat position can be selected in a very short space of time.

The driver's seat and backrest can be adjusted electrically via controls in the door panel. Three settings can be stored and recalled again at any time.

In addition, the passenger side mirror can be set to a mode that shows the rear wheel on the passenger's side as soon as reverse gear is engaged. If the button for the passenger side mirror is pushed when the vehicle is stationary and reverse gear is engaged, the passenger side mirror moves to the preset parking position, giving a view of the kerb. The parking position is saved as soon as reverse gear is disengaged.

With the THERMOTRONIC luxury automatic climate control, you and your front passenger can set individually preferred temperatures at any time. The system also takes outside parameters into account, including temperature, humidity, and the intensity and the angle of the sun’s rays. A dust filter and an activated charcoal filter make sure that pollutants remain outside, as far as possible. Sensors also register the quality of the outside air. If it falls below a certain level, the ventilation flaps are automatically closed.

THERMOTRONIC is an extension of the standard-specification air conditioning system. As well as taking into account influencing factors such as the sun’s intensity, air quality, humidity of the outside air taken in etc., the temperature and air distribution for multiple zones (driver and front passenger) can be individually controlled. A sophisticated sensor system enables automatic control of the interior air conditioning requirements: as the sun’s intensity increases, the solar sensor adjusts the fan speed and temperature to maintain the set temperature.

The electric seat heating allows graduated and individual heating of the front seats. The push-button switch control for each seat can be set to normal or rapid heating.

If rapid heating has been selected, the system automatically changes to "normal" mode after approximately five minutes. The seat heating is automatically switched off completely after around 30 minutes. It can be also be switched off earlier than this manually Seat heating is also switched off automatically if the battery charge is too low.

The auxiliary heater provides pleasant temperatures and clear windows even before the journey begins – and on frosty days. The heater functions independently of the engine. It can be activated with a switch in the vehicle, using radio remote control from a distance of up to 300 metres or via a timer function. Additionally, thanks to the pre-heating of the coolant, the engine starts up in such a way as to protect it.
