The permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC distributes the drive torque to all four wheels and ensures better traction and handling safety. The Electronic Stability Program ESP® is optimally tuned to the all-wheel drive 4MATIC and transmits measured data virtually in real time to the Electronic Traction System 4ETS. 4ETS then brakes the spinning wheels as necessary in a targeted manner. In cooperation with the dynamic handling control systems 4ETS and ESP®, the all-wheel drive improves traction and propulsion – particularly on surfaces which are unpaved, wet or covered in snow or ice. The CL 500 4MATIC also comes equipped as standard with the innovative automatic transmission 7G-TRONIC.
