The Dynamic Handling package comprises sports suspension with lowering function of 15 millimeters and a Direct-Steer system with speed-dependent steering support and variable steering ratio. It boosts driving dynamics through sportier and more dynamic handling in bends and improved driving stability at higher speeds.

The sports suspension is fitted with harder front and rear axle springs. The Direct-Steer system ensures precision handling and reduces steering requirements considerably - for example, on tight bends or when reversing into a parking space - through a more direct ratio. On the other hand, straight-line stability at high speeds is particularly good. In this way both vehicle agility and steering comfort are improved. The power assistance is provided electromechanically and increases in line with speed.

The standard-fit suspension of the new A-Class features comfortable spring characteristics and a tried-and-tested damping system for high handling safety.

The comfort suspension is characterised by sufficient spring travel und the best possible compensation of transverse forces. These are the prerequisites for comfortable elasticity. A conventional damping system is used in the comfort suspension . The tuning of the twin-pipe shock absorber was selected to give a ratio of pulling to pushing force of 3 : 1 on the front axle. This reduces dynamic deviation from tyre uniformity, which benefits the driving dynamics and handling safety of the vehicle.

Speed-sensitive power steering is power steering assistance which is dependent on speed. At high speeds power steering assistance decreases, while at low speeds it is continually increased.
