Multimedia systems: en route entertainment.

The Audio 20 CD has a CD drive and can be operated through the Controller with the touchpad. The equipment also includes the large CENTRAL MEDIA DISPLAY with a 17.8 cm (7") diagonal and a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, radio reception with a double tuner and traffic information decoder as well as a Bluetooth® interface with hands-free feature and numerous connection possibilities.

If a mobile phone or smartphone is connected via the Bluetooth® interface, it is possible to call up texts and emails. External devices can be connected via the USB slot or Aux-in socket. An SD memory card slot is also available. Audio 20 CD can play the wma, aac, mp3 and wav audio formats. A picture viewer is installed to allow image files to be viewed.

The Audio 20 CD with touchpad is available as a standard for the V-Class and the V-Class AVANTGARDE. It can be upgraded to a full-blooded navigation system with the optional Garmin® MAP PILOT.

The Audio 20 USB even at entry level offers a wealth of information, entertainment, communication and connection possibilities. The large CENTRAL MEDIA DISPLAY with a 17.8 cm display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels visualises the data. The equipment also includes a double tuner and traffic information decoder as well as practical interfaces such as USB and Bluetooth® to extend functionality through additional input and output devices.

If a mobile phone or smartphone is connected via the Bluetooth® interface, it is possible to call up texts and emails. External devices, such as storage media or an MP3 player, can be connected via the USB interface. An SD memory card slot is also available. Audio 20 CD can play the wma, aac, mp3 and wav audio formats. A picture viewer is installed to allow image files to be viewed.

The Audio 20 USB does not have a CD drive. It is not available in conjunction with Garmin® MAP PILOT or the Parking package with 360° camera and reversing camera.

The Burmester® surround sound system, with its perfectly tuned amplifier and loudspeaker system, delivers an exciting surround sound experience into the vehicle. 15 loudspeakers (six more than with the standard Audio 20 USB system) and a bass reflex loudspeaker together deliver 640 W of listening experience. An awesome sound is delivered to every seat with the multichannel surround sound technology. The Burmester® logo on the loudspeakers serves as a visual reference to the high-quality Burmester® surround sound system within.

The Burmester® surround sound system converts the signals of the digital standards MLP 5.1, DTS 5.1, Dolby Digital 5.1, PCM and mp3 into exciting surround sound. The sophisticated noise compensation (VNC) maintains the high-quality sound even when there is road noise – whether in town driving or on the motorway. In conjunction with COMAND Online voice amplification forms part of the system, which makes it easier for the driver and front and rear passengers to communicate with each other.

The optional multimedia system COMAND Online leaves almost nothing to be desired where information, entertainment and communication in the vehicle are concerned. The fast-working hard-disc navigation with high-quality topographical 3D map display provides dynamic route guidance using real-time traffic information (country-specific).

COMAND Online includes an internet browser, a brilliant CENTRAL MEDIA DISPLAY with integrated 80-GB hard disc drive and a DVD drive and the Live Traffic function (available free of charge for the first three years in conjunction with COMAND Online). Apart from the innovative operation system via the ergonomic COMAND Controller with touch pad or via LINGUATRONIC voice control, the Mercedes-Benz Touch App allows operation of a navigation system, radio or Internet browser via Smartphone or tablet, among other things. With Mercedes-Benz Apps information can be called up on, for example, the weather or points of interest.

COMAND Online is available as an option for the V-Class and V-Class AVANTGARDE. In order to use all the functions of COMAND Online a Bluetooth®-enabled mobile phone or smartphone with a data option is required.

The Garmin® MAP PILOT upgrades the Audio 20 CD into a full-blooded navigation system with a 3D map display and excellent route guidance. Data and images are displayed in top quality on the large CENTRAL MEDIA DISPLAY. Additional aids to navigation are provided in the instrument cluster. 3D views with precise road and building images as well as photo-realistic Cross-Traffic Assist and Lane Assistant systems help orientation. The TMC Pro traffic jam warning service is available on board to help avoid traffic jams.

The Garmin® MAP PILOT system is operated intuitively using the Controller, touchpad or voice control. With the voice entry facility, it is possible to input the whole address by voice. Navigation software and map data are held on an SD card, which is inserted into a slot in the centre console. This allows software and map updates to be easily downloaded from the internet. The SD card is then coupled to the vehicle and can no longer be used in any other vehicle.

Garmin® MAP PILOT is available as an option for the V-Class and the V-Class AVANTGARDE in conjunction with the Audio 20 CD system.

The optional Convenience Telephony function in the vehicle gives outstanding telephone reception and excellent speech quality. The mobile phone is placed in a charging cradle and is then fully integrated into the vehicle's display and operating systems: The radio is muted if there is an incoming or outgoing phone call. Texts and emails can be transmitted and telephone numbers called up from the address book. So that the phone can always receive calls, the battery is charged in the charging cradle.

The exterior aerial of the vehicle is used for telephone reception. This improves reception quality and keeps the radiation out of the vehicle interior. The adapter for the cradle is on the centre console in a stowage compartment with a roller shutter. Various mobile phones can be used with the appropriate cradle.
