There are three suspension variants available for the V-Class. They range from relaxingly comfortable to positively dynamic in character. For those who don't wish to commit to one or the other in advance, the AGILITY CONTROL suspension [1], which combines agility with driving comfort, is the ideal solution.
The comfort suspension provides outstanding ride comfort in every driving situation, fulfilling the highest expectations. It impresses with its gentle roll and ride characteristics and cancels out bumps and jolts from road surface unevenness and undulations with effortless ease. Thanks to the sophisticated spring and damping and axle design, it also ensures excellent driving dynamics and roll stabilisation as well as good quiet-running.
The comfort suspension is available as standard for the V-Class.
The sports suspension is designed to deliver a high level of driving dynamics and will thrill with its tight suspension tuning, palpable agility and dynamic cornering capability. Its racy characteristics, which make it highly suitable for long-haul trips, differ noticeably from those of the standard comfort suspension due to the deployment of frequency-selective damping. As they have been lowered by 15 mm, vehicles with sports suspension have a lower centre of gravity and optimised roadholding.
In order to achieve the dynamic handling characteristics, the suspension was lowered by 15 mm and the stabilisers strengthened. Additionally, the damping on all spring elements has been increased compared to the standard comfort suspension and the spring characteristics modified accordingly.
The sports suspension is available as an option for the V-Class and V-Class AVANTGARDE.
The AGILITY CONTROL suspension with selective damping system adapts the damping characteristics to the road conditions and driving situation. It provides a good balance between driving comfort and agility by varying the rolling, damping and stabilising characteristics to suit the road surface and driving conditions. By continually scanning the surface, the road roar and tyre vibration characteristics are improved where there are small bumps; and where there are bigger bumps, the effectiveness of the vehicle's damping and stabilising functions.
The AGILITY CONTROL suspension is available as an optional extra for the V-Class and as a standard feature for the V-Class AVANTGARDE.

With a simple touch of a button, the electric parking brake effortlessly stops the vehicle from rolling away. The control button is positioned ergonomically below the light switch. A red control lamp in the instrument cluster indicates that the parking brake is engaged. The parking brake is easily released, by pulling on the button.
If the vehicle is stationary and the key is taken out of the ignition lock, the parking brake is automatically engaged. It disengages automatically once the driver has fastened his/her seat belt and touched the accelerator. Pressing the button for the electric parking brake while the vehicle is in motion will trigger the emergency braking function. That means the vehicle will brake for as long as the button is pressed down. During emergency braking a warning signal sounds, the red indicator lamp flashes in the instrument cluster and a warning message "release parking brake" lights up in the display.
